A bit of this and that

Hello Everyone,
How is everyone? Hope you are fine? We are and everything is cool. Everyone is complaining about the slow updates, please forgive us will get faster. This week we are giving you bit of everything and once again thank you for your comments.
We are thinking of hosting a Wedding Vogue Luncheon in Lagos this December, it would be a lovely evening garden get together where you get to meet us, ask us questions up close and personal. You also get to meet with brides to be and new brides. We will also invite our favourite vendors for you to meet with, please note it is not a fair but a social mixer.
So are you game, lets hear from you.......................................

Love Always,
Molara & Gbemi

Questions of the Week:

Is it worth all the money we waste on real flowers or not? Real vs Artificial

Can you rent a wedding gown or not?

A Special Proposal: Yemi & Tosin

So... Here it goes...Picture this:

March 25, 2006, Tosin's birthday. It was a Saturday afternoon, and Yemi drove from Louisville to Nashville to come and spend my birthday with me. He brought me a bouquet of sunflowers, very pretty. Yemi told me he had made dinner reservations for my birthday, and he'll be picking me up from church after choir practice, so I had to dress nice.
Anyways, since it was my birthday, I didn't suspect anything, though I thought he was acting weird and Doyin (my younger sister) was acting extra nice. He picked me up for dinner at 7pm, and we went to the Cascades Restaurant at Gaylord Opryland Resort (beautiful scenery and good food, if you're in the Nashville area, it's a great place to visit). After dinner, we went on a riverboat ride on the Delta River, an indoor river at the resort. The boat was decorated with red and white rose petals, there was champagne on ice and Frank Sinatra's "It had to be you" was playing in the background. Now, I'm thinking to myself, "This is a really nice birthday, I could really get used to this!"
I was beginning to feel relaxed and enjoy the scenery, when we got to this beautiful waterfall. I was just about to talk to Yemi about the waterfall when he got on his right knee and asked me to marry him! Being the goofy person that I am, I laughed really hard for two minutes (out of joy, of course) and said yes! Well, the rest is history.

Wedding of The Week: Chinwe and Seun

The venues for the events?
The ceremony & reception took place at The Pacific Palms Resort, Los Angeles, California

What was your favorite part of your wedding?
Seeing family & friends laugh, dance . . . just having a good time

How was the planning process for you?
Seun & I planned our wedding, and we enjoyed making our day very personal. There were a lot of discussions, disagreements, making up but We were a very good team, especially because all the planning took place over emails, phone calls, it was long distance.

If you could change anything what would it be?
God exceeded my expectation I won't change a thing

If you could add anything what would it be?
Not necessarily add, but I would have relaxed more during the planning process, and just trusted God by not worrying

Any advice for brides to be ....
Have fun at every stage, the wedding process flies by too fast

Rants of the Week:
1. Brides who wear gloves - whats up with that, now the grooms who wear gloves (comon now)
2. Please fur is not for Nigerian brides. Please do not drape yourself or your gown with any form of fur PLEASE!!!!!!!

I concur with your rants fo the week, I have hated gloves since d beginnin of time...y do pple do it eh??? I think it's bad influence frm nollywood movies..lol!!

Hello lovelee ladies and HI!!! to all the gentlemen who secertly log on to the BEST blog ever ...
Well just wanted to check in with you guys and I see you all got started without me ... Never mind I still got enough to say ...
Wedding of the week ... Absoluteley FAB. U just had to be there and ladies watch that 1st picture of the groom dipping the bride become one of the favorite shots for wedding photographers every where in the world ... That is just my prediction ...

All I can say to Yemi is "YOU GO BOY!!!!" Doing it in style ... Please keep it up even after the wedding ... and now to my favorite part of the blog; the infamous, Molara and Gbemi RANT!!!! and ladies I have to hand it to you, this one is my biggest pet peeve ever. I think I am going to take additional time to think about this but for now let me say "Ewwwwww!", so not cool. GLOVES? CUT OFF GLOVES FOR THAT MATTER ... Cmon now guys give me a BREAK. It does nothing for you but make you look awkward and quite razz I might add ... to be tres chic, why not go full on and do more elegant satin gloves, a la Audrey Hepburn, Old world 50's style. That is a much better look my people ... And you ladies who commit the atrocious wedding fashion faux pas of wearing cut off gloves, PLEASE for the love of God, don't make the brothers do it. Years later you will thank me, especially when your kids go thru the wedding albums ... C'est la vie ...

Congratulations to the couple...

And do any brides in Nigeria wear fur? Because that would truly be a sight to behold....

QUESTION OF THE WEEK:
1. Fake or Real Flowers?
Well, depending on the flower and the season of the year real flowers could be pricey. Also some colors are just hard to come by. As a decorator, my clients who want real flowers have to pay more because labor can not be done too far in advance, so that has to be considered.

Silk flowers on the other hand can come real close to the real thing, you just have to know where to go. You can almost find them in any color, and because they are hand made, they come as close to perfection as it gets. Also for decorators, it makes the design process easier. We can work in advance and do not need to hire additional labor for the day of the event.

As far as pricing goes, silk flowers can sometimes run more expensive that real, depending on which type of flowers, however the price difference is ususally not that much especially if you utilize a decorator who purchases wholesale.

Also with real flowers, you trash them after the entire event, however with silk flowers, your guests can keep the centerpieces/flower arrangements from your day as a memorabilia of your day. Consider it an additional favor to give to your guests.

@ Oyemvwe...don't kno if u saw my reply in d previous post..thx 4 all ur ideas on colours...will let u kno wat i decide...Good idea abt silk flowers never thot of dat sef. have a great week!!!!!!!!

AJ said...

Hiya Abi, I'm glad u were able to use some of the color suggestions and ideas ... Yes silk flowers are mostly a winner for me ... I do work with fresh but not for mammoth sized weddings like we Nigerians have ... I am still waiting on the client who does not mind the cost and will have fresh flowers at all costs... Well we are celebrating Thanksgiving over here , don't know where u are, but Happy Thanksgiving

Halle lollllllllllllll. My favourite thing on this blog are the rants and in Molara and Gbemi's defence they are not asking you to change what you believe in they are merely saying its not right and it annoys us (as in them). Please send us a photo of your snake skin wedding gown, I bet it would be beautiful lolllllllllll take care oh

nneka very funny "Please send us a photo of your snake skin wedding gown" r u serious .

Just looked at the Chinwe & Seun pics for the first time- word, they are beautiful- i love how calm the pictures are, the bride is beautiful without being over the top-that cake scores a 10/q0 for me!!!
wow!!!

AJ said...

Ms. Halle, what is good for the goose is not always good for the gander. Just like some fashion trends are a definite NO NO , Molara and Gbemi are just saying ... At the end of the day wear whatever you want, but do not expect everyone to appreciate it. You will not wear fur in Nigeria because it does not make sense, it is HOT AS HELL! and then the cut away gloves thing, really does look tacky, however to each his own o.

But like I said, don't take things personally, there will be RANTS on this blog that you will completely agree with and others will disagree ... It is NOT a personal attack.

Anyhoo keep coming back ... WE ALL LOVE YOU! and Nneka very funny, how about we try croc skin, that is SOOOOOOOOO like HOT right now ...

To Mollie Mols and Gbemi, thank you for this blog, for wedding addicts like me, it is definitely feeding the need, just when I was trying to kick the habit, oh well ...
